Online Self-Directed Course Design Academy Summer 2020 - Session Two

Based on the success of the self-directed version of the Lucas Center Course Design Academy (CDA) held during the week of May 11, we have decided to offer two additional week-long, self-directed CDAs this summer. This session will run on July 13, 15, and 17. Participants will: a) receive access to a CDA Canvas course approximately two weeks prior to the start of CDA, where they will find materials to guide their course design process (including Dee Fink's “A Self-Directed Guide to Designing Courses for Significant Learning,” among other resources); b) participate in synchronous video conference discussions on July 13, 15, and 17(9:00 – 10:00 am and 3:00 – 4:00 pm each day); c) receive a Canvas course module template so they can begin constructing their course in Canvas during the design process; and d) receive written and verbal feedback on their syllabuses, assignments, assessments, and activities throughout the week via individual consultation and Canvas comments.

About Us

The Lucas Center for Faculty Development

The Lucas Center supports activities that help you grow as a teacher. Most of our topics and programs are the result of feedback from the FGCU faculty community perception of needs. Our Center offers creative learning experiences focused in the areas of teaching, learning, assessment and scholarship. Watch for e-mails announcing activities that may interest you. Our goal is to be a consistent source of support to faculty by providing activities that are engaging, inspiring, practical, and useful. Stop by to say hello and see our wonderful space in LIB 221, affectionately known as “The Living Room.”
