Zoom 101

This workshop will introduce participants to using the video conferencing application Zoom for various teaching scenarios (e.g. office hours, class session, lab meetings). We will provide an overview of the Zoom platform (e.g. interface, settings, launching meetings), followed by demonstrations of using Zoom for various instructional uses (e.g. screen sharing, breakout rooms, whiteboard, chat). Time will be available at the end of the session for Q&A.

This session will take place as a Zoom meeting. Participants will receive the link to join the meeting via their confirmation email.

 

 


Session Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, participants will know how to:

  • Set-up their Zoom account and launch Zoom meetings
  • Navigate Zoom features and settings
  • Troubleshoot audio and video issues
  • Use Zoom to conduct synchronous (real-time) class meetings, group discussion and office hours
  • Leverage Zoom functionality for various instructional uses (narrated slides, web, whiteboard, chat, screen sharing)

Target Audience

Faculty and staff needing to use Zoom.


Workshop Length

30 minutes plus an optional 30 minutes for Q&A

At the end of the workshop, participants will know how to:

 

 

  • Using Zoom across teaching scenarios (class sessions, office hours, group meetings)
  • Overview of your Zoom account (locating your personal meeting link, scheduling meetings)
  • Zoom's interface, settings, and features
  • Instructional uses of Zoom sharing screens, narrating slides, whiteboard, facilitating discussion)
