During the emergency pivot to remote instruction in Spring 2020, many faculty relied on Zoom to connect with their students and to hold synchronous class sessions. Faculty may have had mixed experiences using Zoom in their teaching because they didn’t have much time to prepare. Some faculty may also be feeling “zoomed out” as the fall semester draws near. This open / facilitated conversation aims to revisit Zoom as an instructional tool so that faculty can have more time to reflect on how they may employ this tool in their fall course. What Zoom features proved most successful for facilitating synchronous class sessions, office hours and meetings with students? What kinds of practices did you develop within Zoom to successfully connect with students and keep them engaged in your course? This session aims to give faculty members a space to share lessons learned, to gain insights into new ways to use Zoom and new practices to employ during Zoom meetings.
This session will take place as a Zoom meeting. Participants will receive the link to join the meeting via their confirmation email.
