Inclusive Courses with Universal Design for Learning
Facilitated by: Elizabeth Weatherford, M.A.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework that can be used at any point in the course design process to make courses more accessible and inclusive for all learners, from those with learning disabilities, to second language learners, to diverse cultural experiences. UDL seeks to remove barriers to learning, allowing all students the opportunity to engage in courses and demonstrate their knowledge. This session will provide attendees with an introduction to UDL, including ways to incorporate UDL in their current and future courses, and resources for further implementation.
*This session is a part of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Week. Your attendance at this session will count as an elective session for the Diversity & Inclusion Certificate!*
The Lucas Center for Faculty Development
The Lucas Center supports activities that help you grow as a teacher. Most of our topics and programs are the result of feedback from the FGCU faculty community perception of needs. Our Center offers creative learning experiences focused in the areas of teaching, learning, assessment and scholarship. Watch for e-mails announcing activities that may interest you. Our goal is to be a consistent source of support to faculty by providing activities that are engaging, inspiring, practical, and useful. Stop by to say hello and see our wonderful space in LIB 221, affectionately known as “The Living Room.”
