Synchronous Teaching Academy 2021-22

Registration End Date:  10/1/2022 11:59 PM EST

Synchronous Teaching Academy

This academy was originally designed to meet the needs of our remote emergency learners as well as comply with “social distancing” guidelines. However, FGCU will continue to have some synchronous online courses as one of many options for course delivery, as well as courses with an online synchronous component. The purpose of a synchronous course is to take advantage of the best features of face-to-face learning while learning at a distance.

Join your peers as we explore ways to:

  • Understand the potential of and drawbacks to the synchronous delivery format
  • Plan engaging, active learning course content and activities for synchronous classes
  • Effectively utilize appropriate technologies for synchronous teaching

This academy is 100% asynchronous and fully self-paced. This means that participants will be working entirely on their own timeframe for completion - assignments do not have weekly due dates and there are no synchronous meetings.

Who Should Attend: This training is for instructors and faculty who are teaching hybrid/blended courses. Participants should be confident using Canvas.

Schedule: Self-Paced, from Monday, November 1, 2021 to Tuesday, November 1, 2022

Faculty should expect to spend approximately 9-12 hours completing this academy.
