Asynchronous Teaching Academy

 

Teaching remotely is more than just transferring content to Canvas and grading student submissions. Just like in the traditional classroom, creating a safe and engaging community for learners to interact with the instructor, each other, and course content is critical to learner success. This academy includes 3 modules that explore three major topics: the Community of Inquiry framework for online learning, online active learning techniques and strategies, and online assessment methods. The focus of this academy is not the technology, but the use of effective instructional techniques in the online, asynchronous learning environment.

 

Join your peers as we explore ways to:

  • Successfully communicate and connect with students
  • Create and deliver engaging learning activities for students
  • Effectively utilize online assessment practices

 

This academy is 100% asynchronous and fully self-paced. This means that participants will be working entirely on their own timeframe for completion - assignments do not have weekly due dates and there are no synchronous meetings.

Who Should Attend: This training is for instructors and faculty who are teaching hybrid/blended courses. Participants should be confident using Canvas.

 

Schedule: Self-Paced, from Monday, November 1, 2021 to Tuesday, November 1, 2022


Faculty should expect to spend approximately 9-12 hours completing this academy.
