Participants will gain an understanding of the three brain networks associated with Universal Design for Learning. Participants will utilize that understand to audit their learning environments. In addition, participants will gather specific strategies to design their learning environments and support learner variability.
Rhonda Laswell, M. Ed. is the Coordinator of Universal Design for Learning for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. Prior to serving as the UDL Coordinator, Rhonda was a middle school science teacher, team leader, and science department coordinator. In her role as UDL Coordinator, she is responsible for the design and facilitation of professional development of staff, consultations for curriculum and learning environment design and the integration of Positive Behavior Instructional Supports, Cultural Responsiveness, Growth Mindset, and Behavior and Mental Health utilizing the Search Institutes Developmental Assets and Developmental Relationships Frameworks. She also coordinates an annual UDL Implementation Summer Institute for approximately 150 participants. Rhonda has also attended the Harvard UDL Summer Institute and participated in UDL Facilitators training at The Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) in conjunction with The UDL Professional Development System (UDL-PDS) Project funded through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition, she currently holds Instructional and Administrative licenses for the State of Indiana: Science grades 1-9; General Elementary grades 1-6 7/8 Non-Dept., and Building Level Administrator P-12. Rhonda loves to cook, work in the herb garden, and read. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Morey, of 30 years and their schnauzer Murdock. She also enjoys spending time with their son Nathan and his wife Erin and their daughter Emma who is a nursing student. They all reside in Columbus Indiana.

* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.
