A variety of resources will be utilized to show evidence based next steps for your classroom. 7 Mighty Steps by Lindsay Kemeny will be a key resource for thoughtfully reflecting on our practices!

September Session: 'If I'm not leveling, what am I doing?'
October Session: 'This sounds great, but how do I fit it all in?'
November Session: 'What is the big deal about explicitly teaching vocabulary?'
Jan Session: 'Why is everyone talking about a Rope? And what is up with Comprehension Instruction now?!'
Feb Session: 'Why is phonemic awareness so important?'
Apr Session: TBD
These virtual sessions will be held from 4:00-4:45 on Sep 25, Oct 30, Nov 27, Jan 29, Feb 26, and Apr 29. Each session will focus on a specific component of the Science of Reading. If possible, sessions will be recorded.
Melissa GillWVEC Instructional Specialist
As an educator, Melissa Gill has experienced life as a primary & intermediate Classroom Teacher, Instructional Coach, Reading Specialist, and Administrator. She has facilitated preK-12 district professional development and provided MTSS leadership support. Melissa is currently the Instructional Outreach Director at WVEC! She works onsite supporting & encouraging educators in their professional learning while also fostering partnerships with various educational organizations to meet the needs of all students in Indiana. Besides making new connections, Melissa enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

*Cost of all workshops are based on membership in an Indiana Educational Service Center (ESC). Any registrants who are not members of an ESC in the state of Indiana will be required to pay the non-member fee.

WVEC CANCELLATION POLICY:
* Registrants who notify WVEC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.
* Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop will pay 50% of the registration fee.
* Registrants who neglect to call or notify the WVEC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full fee.
* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.
