Wabash Valley Education Center Wabash Valley Education Center Join Amy Sturgeon for an engaging day where you’ll get many tools to fill your EL Toolbox. You’ll receive strategies and resources to best serve ELs whether they’re newcomers or LTELs and in elementary or high school. We will discuss tools for adapting materials and lessons, and supporting language growth in all four domains (Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening), and we'll address topics such as grading, translation, academic vocabulary, preparing for WIDA, and more!
Amy Sturgeon
Amy Sturgeon is the English Learner (EL) Instructional Coach for Tippecanoe School Corporation and works with TSC’s 19 schools to provide support and professional development for teachers and tutors who work with ELs. Amy has been serving and fulfilling the duties of various roles in TSC schools for 30 years, including classroom teacher of multiple grade levels, literacy specialist, and Title One Lead Teacher. Amy has her master’s degree in literacy and language.

*Cost of all workshops are based on membership in an Indiana Educational Service Center (ESC). Any registrants who are not members of an ESC in the state of Indiana will be required to pay the non-member fee.

* Registrants who notify WVEC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.
* Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop will pay 50% of the registration fee.
* Registrants who neglect to call or notify the WVEC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full fee.
* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.
