Participants will learn a variety of strategies that can be implemented within the general education or special education classroom to support students. Most importantly, participants will understand WHY the various strategies are helpful for students with Autism so that they can match the strategy to the specific area of need. Rebecca Harkema
Becca has been in the field of special education for 17 years. She has her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University. Her dissertation focused on implementing strategies for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the home and school environments. She currently serves as a District Director, Curriculum Director and Reading Specialist for the Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative.
Sheila Parker
Sheila has been in the field of special education for 8 years. She has used all of the practical strategies in this presentation with success, and helps others implement them in their classrooms. She has her MSW from Indiana University, and currently works as a behavioral consultant with Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative.

* Registrants who neglect to call or notify the WVEC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full fee.
* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.
