You’ve heard the debate by now. Which is better: print or digital? Let’s end that debate today. There’s a place for both in the modern classroom. In this session, let’s discuss the research behind how we read online, review teaching strategies for improving comprehension of digital media, and share tips for creating effective digital content for the classroom.
Michele Eaton is the Director of Virtual and Blended Learning for the M.S.D. of Wayne Township in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her responsibilities include providing support for the Achieve Virtual Education Academy teachers and students, working with K-12 classroom teachers on meaningful technology integration, overseeing online course design throughout the district, integrating digital resources, and helping to lead the district’s many blended learning options.
Michele started her career as a 2nd grade teacher and also taught online for Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) in their Learning By Design Master’s program and for the undergraduate education program. Michele is a Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL). She was recently named an Education Week Leader to Learn From and a NextGeneration Leader by EdScoop and the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN). Michele currently serves as President for ISTE’s Online and Blended Learning Network and as Chairperson for ISTE’s Indiana affiliate organization (Indiana Connected Educators).
Michele has a passion for high quality online and blended learning for students. With thoughtful use of online learning, we can transform what learning looks like, creating highly personalized and highly effective experiences for students. She believes that the first step in making this a reality is to create these types of learning experiences for teachers. Much of her work focuses on transforming adult learning to showcase the ways technology and online learning can have a positive impact for all learners.
