Chris King
My name is Chris King.  I grew up in southern Indiana and graduated from Purdue in 2008.  I met my wife there and now we have 2 children.  I have previously taught kindergarten for 13 years (6 at Frankfort and 7 at Delphi).  I switched to Project Lead the Way at the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year and am still teaching grades 1-5 in this position.  While the switch was something I never thought I would do, I am so pleased to have done it.  I love science and teaching computer science!



David Purpura
David Purpura is a Professor in Human Development and Families Studies (HDFS) at Purdue University and the Director of the Center for Early Learning, a research, practice, and policy center focused on enhancing educational success for children birth through 8 years old. His research focuses on early mathematics and reading development, assessment, and intervention as well as the translation of this work to applied contexts. In his program of research, he and his colleagues have developed and evaluated series of children's books infused with mathematics including The Little Elephants BIG Adventures (www.TheLittleElephants.com) and The Pattern Pals (www.ThePatternPals.com).



Megan Purcell
Megan Purcell is a Clinical Associate Professor at in the department of Human Development and Family Studies at Purdue University.  Her primary responsibilities include program coordination, teaching, and field supervision of the Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Needs program preparing early career educators for working with children with and without disabilities aged birth through eight / grade 3. Personally and professionally, Dr. Purcell plans to continue what she is currently doing until she can do it no more.  That is, to work with and prepare current and future early childhood educators and early interventionists to provide highly effective, inclusive services for ALL children to achieve the best possible outcomes.



Nadine Gilkison
I have been a District Technology Integration Specialist for 8 years in Franklin Township Schools and also served as an Innovation Specialist for the Office of eLearning/IDOE. I am a Google Certified Innovator, part of cohort NYC#19, with a project focus on #dyslexicmindset. I love helping all teachers and all students excel at technology integration. My specialties include: Hyperdocs, Accessibility, eLearning, blended learning, Chromebooks, district level coaching and anything Google.



SunShine Waber
SunShine Waber has taught for 25 years in various teaching positions including preschool, kindergarten, special education, social work, and teacher mentoring. She currently teaches Kindergarten at Mayflower Mill Elementary. She teaches with the whole child in mind:  physical, social, and academic development and is trained in Trauma Informed practices and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.

Cost: $150/Service Center Member or $300/District not belonging to a Service Center*

 

*Cost of all workshops are based on membership in an Indiana Educational Service Center (ESC). Any registrants who are not members of an ESC in the state of Indiana will be required to pay the non-member fee.

Cancellation Policy

WVEC CANCELLATION POLICY:
* Registrants who notify WVEC of their cancellation on or before the registration deadline date will not be required to pay the registration fee.
* Registrants who cancel after the registration deadline but before the workshop date or call to cancel on the day of the workshop will pay 50% of the registration fee.
* Registrants who neglect to call or notify the WVEC of their cancellation will be responsible for paying the full fee.
* On official school corporation weather-related cancellation days, registrants will not be required to pay registration fees.
