Art and Yoga Retreat - The Heart of Hope: Wisdom from the Garden

in partnership with Dogwood Studio Yoga and Bev Dyer

Time: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Fee: $46 ($41 Members), includes a journal!

 

Participants will explore how we can embody the meaning of HOPE in our mind, body, and heart with the beautiful backdrop of the North Carolina Botanical Garden. Through the integration of mindfulness practices of gentle yoga, meditation and creative journaling practices, participants will have the opportunity to express themselves to foster community, resilience, and hopeful intention.

 

This retreat will take place in the spacious Reeves Auditorium with windows and doors opened for ventilation. Following the opening session, the group will be divided into two tracks. Please see the schedule below for additional details.

About the Program
ACTIVITY TIME
Twilight Hike
Join us for an optional hike on the Botanical Garden trails. We will meet in the parking lot.
7:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Registration - in the Reeves Auditorium lobby 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.
Opening - Meditation & Mindful Movement
Introducing the aspect of HOPE
9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Snack (provided or bring your own), transition to Sessions 10:00 - 10:15 a.m.

Session 1A - Mindful Movement Session 1B - Mindful Creativity through Journaling 10:15 - 11:30 a.m.
Lunch (bring your own), Walking the Garden, and/or Creative Journaling 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Session 1B - Mindful Creativity through Journaling Session 1A - Mindful Movement 12:15 - 1:30 p.m.

Details

For the health and safety of participants with severe nut allergies, the North Carolina Botanical Garden is adopting a nut-free policy for this program. We will have snacks and refreshments available throughout the day. Lunch is not provided, so as you prepare to pack your bagged lunch, please read all ingredients carefully and/or consider buying food items from a nut-free manufacturer. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping those with food allergies safe.

 

Please AVOID these items:

  • Peanuts, peanut flour, peanut oil, peanut paste
  • Almonds, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts (filberts), Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios
  • Artificial nuts, mixed nuts, trail mix, goober peas, monkey nuts, mandelonas
  • Nut butters (e.g. peanut, almond, or cashew butter)
  • Nutella
  • Candy or chocolate that contains nuts
  • Graham cracker crust
  • Crumb toppings
  • Hydrolyzed plant and vegetable protein
  • Fried foods
  • Nougat
  • Pesto

Nut-Free Food Suggestions:

 

  • Sunflower seed butter (SunButter – tastes like peanut butter!), soybean butter (WowButter)
  • Fresh fruit, e.g. apples, bananas, clementines
  • Raisins and other dried fruits
  • String cheese and cheese cubes
  • Vegetables, e.g. baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, broccoli (can serve with dip)
  • Yogurt
  • Popcorn
  • Pretzels
  • Applesauce
  • Fruit snacks
