Entomology

This course is designed for a broad audience. Students learn insect family recognition and common species identification, insect ecology and conservation, basic life cycle biology, and how to improve insect habitat and conservation in the urban environment.
No prerequisites.
Stephen received a Ph.D. in Biology from UNC-Chapel Hill. He worked for 25 years with the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program as Invertebrate Zoologist and Landscape Ecologist, where he conducted surveys of butterflies, moths, and other insects, integrating them into the Program’s conservation efforts. Stephen is currently developing a website covering the state’s moth fauna.
