Take a walk with the coordinator of Edible Campus UNC, one of the North Carolina Botanical Garden's community outreach programs that creates gardens across the UNC-Chapel Hill campus full of edible, medicinal, and pollinator-friendly plants. We'll see and taste from the gardens, and we'll learn about the program and how it supports food justice initiatives at the University, and more!

Note: We'll meet at the main Edible Campus Garden, located next to Davis Library on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus (at the corner of Raleigh Street and Lenoir Drive). Allow time for parking downtown, or take the bus!

About the Speaker

Kyle Parker joined Edible Campus UNC as coordinator in 2020.  Prior to that he worked three years as the Edible Campus horticulturalist and three years as the garden assistant at Carolina Community Garden.  He also worked at a local native plant nursery and ran a small gardening / landscape business for several years.  He hopes that through Edible Campus he can empower and inspire the environmental leaders of tomorrow and help to educate the UNC community on the importance of local food systems and environmental sustainability. He has a great enthusiasm for cooking, flowers, sports, music, the great outdoors, and thinks there's nothing better than having a good laugh.
