Oregon's Statewide Assessment System, or OSAS, provides the “3 Cs” of balanced assessment – Coherent, Continuous, and Comprehensive – that give educators tools to better understand both their local system of teaching and learning as well as the students they serve. While students' overall OSAS state test scores provide only a high-level glimpse at grade-level achievement, drilling down to results at the target level lets district and school leaders take concrete action to ensure the quality of and coherence among their curriculum, pacing, and instruction. Educators can continually assess students at the target level throughout the school year by using OSAS Interim Assessment Blocks (IABs) – right-sized, just-in-time tests that comprehensively align to the depth, breadth, and cognitive complexity of Oregon's academic standards. District teams are invited to join this discussion and work session to explore the ways OSAS can be used to improve learning outcomes for students.
