Audience

We welcome all nurses, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapists, physical therapists, and anyone else interested in learning more about the virus monkeypox.


Details

After more than two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is easy to feel nervous when another virus outbreak occurs. Monkeypox is on the rise in the United States and some may be wondering if another healthcare threat is in the works. In this program you will learn about the monkeypox outbreak including who is at risk, transmission, how to spot signs of monkeypox, when healthcare workers might face risk, and treatment options for people who contract the virus.

 

Program Objectives:

  • Define monkeypox and describe the transmission of this virus
  • Describe symptoms and complications of monkeypox
  • Identify infection precautions recommended when caring for patient with confirmed, or suspected, monkeypox

 

In order to receive continuing education hours for this event, you must meet the following completion requirements:

  • Attendance at the entire activity
  • Completion/submission of evaluation form

Respiratory: This offering meets the continuing education criteria for 1.0 clock hours for Nebraska Respiratory Care Practitioners.

Education Credit: 1.0 Education hours. Nebraska Methodist College Professional Development assigns education hours based on 60 minutes of classroom instruction for each offering. Participants may use these for their professional continuing education hours and toward re-licensure if so approved within the standards and guidelines of their discipline.
