Audience

We welcome all nurses and any other healthcare providers interested in learning more about the core components of infection prevention and control in healthcare settings.


Details

The Nebraska Infection Control Network (NICN) Primary Infection Prevention course offers a combination of lectures, discussions and educational activities pertaining to the prevention and control of infections in a variety of health care settings. The first day will focus on infection and prevention for all health care settings. Day two will focus on long-term care and assisted living facilities. Learners who attend the full course (two days) have the option to obtain a Long-Term Care certificate of knowledge validation by taking a written post-test after the training. This certificate is issued by NICN in collaboration with Nebraska ICAP and Nebraska DHHS Epidemiology Unit, and it is valid for three years. The post-test will be administered at the conclusion of the Day two Long-Term Care & Assisted Living session.

Education Credit: 14.5 Education hours. Nebraska Methodist College Professional Development assigns education hours based on 60 minutes of classroom instruction for each offering. Participants may use these for their professional continuing education hours and toward re-licensure if so approved within the standards and guidelines of their discipline.
