PLEASE NOTE: Learners who attend the full course (two days) have the option to obtain a Long-Term Care certificate of knowledge validation by taking a written post-test after the training. This certificate is issued by NICN in collaboration with Nebraska ICAP and Nebraska DHHS Epidemiology Unit, and it is valid for three years. The post-test will be administered at the conclusion of the Day two Long-Term Care & Assisted Living session. There is no additional cost for this. There is no continuing education offered for this test. The test will start at 4:00pm.

 

Attendees must be capable of wearing well-fitted, hospital-grade, multilayer procedural masks. Fabric masks, gaiters, vented masks, face shields and bandanas are not allowed. Appropriate masks will be provided at entrances. Fabric masks over surgical masks and nonvented N95/KN95 masks may be allowed.

We welcome all nurses and any other healthcare providers interested in learning more about the core components of infection prevention and control in healthcare settings.


Details

The Nebraska Infection Control Network (NICN) Primary Infection Prevention course offers a combination of lectures, discussions, and educational activities on the prevention and control of infections in various health care settings. The first day will focus on infection and prevention for all health care settings. Day two will focus on long-term care and assisted living facilities. Learners who attend the full course (two days) have the option to obtain a Long-Term Care certificate of knowledge validation by taking a written post-test after the training. This certificate is issued by NICN in collaboration with Nebraska ICAP and Nebraska DHHS Epidemiology Unit, and it is valid for three years. The post-test will be administered at the conclusion of the Day two Long-Term Care & Assisted Living session.

  • Choose at least one new infection control method to integrate into practice
  • Discuss ways to prevent and stop the transmission of infection
