Pediatric PTs/OTs often encounter patients struggling with overweight and obesity, however no applied training on this topic exists for clinicians.
Evidence-based content will include a comprehensive overview on: 1) the current state of pediatric obesity; 2) systemic effects and risk factors of pediatric obesity, including the impact on body systems and psychosocial health; 3) effective vs. ineffective weight-based conversations, as well as ethical dilemmas that can arise in the clinic.
A primary focus of the learning event will be to teach learners motivational interviewing techniques; skills that are key to sensitive clinical conversations.
Case examples, skill building and question/answer formats will be used. The overall goal of this event is to provide PTs/OTs with both information and skills that will translate into more thoughtful patient care.
Registration open through 9/18/2020 2:00 PM Central Time (US & Canada)
