Effective Aug.9, all university members are required to mask in public, indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status. Public, indoor spaces are defined as any space inside a campus building that is not considered a private room or private office. Indoor classrooms, teaching labs, common areas, libraries, hallways, elevators and restrooms are all considered public spaces that are subject to the mask requirement. The presentation will include but not limited to Juvenile Justice. History of Juvenile Justice and exploitation of juveniles. Laws and policies for protecting and addressing juvenile incarceration, school to prison pipeline, and KY senate bill 200. Discuss community resources and services in the surrounding area. Utilize laws and bills to discuss restorative justice and diversion programs.
Social workers support, assist, and advocate on behalf of families, juveniles and courts affected by the juvenile justice system. Many of these social work roles focus on intervening before incarceration occurs, supporting parents, caregivers, educating young people and influencing other social agencies on the juvenile justice system
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of practice.
