About this Course

Texas Children's Hospital and The Children's Assessment Center (CAC) are committed to advancing the care of children who are sexually abused and used for human trafficking, locally, regionally and nationally. We provide continuing professional development to school nurses, teachers, social workers and other school professional to advance the mental care and healthcare of children.



This Nursing Professional Development course on Internet Safety & Human Trafficking course will feature the following topics & speakers:


9:00am - 9:05am: Welcome & Housekeeping - Jennifer Bailey


9:05am - 10:30am: 'Hiding in Plain Sight: The Trafficked in the Health Care Setting'

Speaker: Dr. Reena Isaac, Medical Director of the Harris County Children's Assessment Center Medical Clinic in Houston and Medical Director of the Brazoria County Children's Alliance for Children Inc.



10:30am - 10:40am: Break



10:40am - 12:00pm: 'Dangers of the Internet: Safer Internet Practices for Children and Families'

Speaker: Lt. John Colburn, Commander over the Houston-Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) where he oversee the daily operations of the task force. Lt. Colburn currently works with 120 members of the task force as they investigate internet crimes against children cases in the eight (8) counties surround the Houston area.
