10th Annual Generations Conference | Navigating the New Reality in Respiratory Protection & Protect What’s Behind the Mask

Friday, September 24, 2021
Live Interactive Webinar 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (CST)

Synopsis

Presenter Leann Keefer, RDH, BS, MSM, will address how the emergence of novel respiratory pathogens, such as SARS-CoV-2 have highlighted the vulnerability of health care workers to respiratory infections. One of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic is the realization that dentistry must reassess the appropriate levels of personal protective equipment, in order to be compliant with the changing regulatory landscape for respiratory protection.

Additionally, Ms. Keefer will illustrate how the appropriate face mask is a key component to minimize the spread of potentially infectious diseases. Fit, filtration, materials, and construction are all factors when considering personal protective equipment. In addition, the appropriate barrier level of a mask must be selected based on the anticipated level of risk during a given procedure. The adage, “what you can't see, won't hurt you” can have disastrous consequences when applied to infection prevention.
