Synopsis

This course is designed to equip dentists with the essential knowledge and skills to perform non-surgical root canal treatment. Non-surgical endodontic therapy is a critical aspect of dental practice, and with the latest advances in techniques and technologies, it is now possible to save a greater number of teeth than ever before. The course will cover the following topics:

* The basics of endodontics: exam, radiograph, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up

* Latest evidence-based trends in non-surgical root canal treatment

* Using calcium silicate-based sealer, the obturation techniques for three-dimensional filling of the root canal system

* Tips and tricks for managing difficult cases.

 

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of the complicated anatomy of root canal systems in the treatment protocols
  • Understand veneer preparation guidelines
  • Apply concepts of advanced non-surgical root canal treatment in a clinical setting
  • Develop non-surgical root canal treatment protocols in a variety of clinical scenarios.

About the Presenter(s)

 

Ji Wook Jeong, DDS, MS, earned a dental degree (DMD) at Kyunghee University in Seoul, South Korea, in 2001. He had practiced as general dentist for 13 years in Seoul. During his general practice, he earned a credential associate fellowship from American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) in 2008. He also served as an instructor and mentor of the Korea MaxiCourse® of AAID from 2008 to 2012. In 2017, he graduated from the advanced program of Endodontics in the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) at Houston, School of Dentistry where he earned a postgraduate degree (MSD) and the certificate of the specialty of Endodontics.

Dr. Jeong has been working as a full-time faculty at UTHSC at Houston since he graduated from the program. Currently, he is the course director of Endodontic Surgery for the endodontic residents and Endodontic honor course for the predoctoral senior students. He had multiple lectures in international and national endodontic conferences. Also, he authored multiple peer-reviewed articles. He is an active member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Journal of Endodontics, American Academy of Endodontists, and a board-certified endodontist of the American Board of Endodontics.
