Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is not always about oral cancer, canker sores and lichen planus. Occasionally, there is a twist to this story. In this course, we will step beyond the mundane. Join for a three-hour tour of unusual and at times bizarre pathological processes encountered in the practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. The human body is intriguing and frequently throws curve balls that result in unusual oral and jawbone findings. We will see many such examples that required an out of the box diagnostic thought process. Clinical pictures, x-rays and photomicrographs documenting these various diseases will be used in this course. A brief description will accompany some of the rarer conditions. .

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • The participants will recognize that the oral cavity and jaw bones may be affected by some bizarre local and systemic conditions.
  • The participants will understand the pathological process behind each of these unique conditions.
  • The participants will recognize that such lesions have unusual and unfamiliar characteristics that will affect the way we manage the patient.
