Live your dream of working full-time as a voice actor by developing your freelance business skills!

The first part of our Career Core series is taught by Sally who will share a go-to resource grid on who's who in the industry and how they will play a part in your career growth, networking and self-promotion.

Then Voice One alum and attorney, Angeli Fitch, who built her voice over business from student to full-time working actor, will follow up with creating an effective business plan, setting realistic goals, using time tracking and management strategies to stay on target, and conducting focused industry research.

Lastly, Jim Edgar will serve as your fees and finance guide to help you figure out how to set your rates, determine industry standards, and figure out what to charge.

Instructor: Angeli Fitch; Jim Edgar; Sally Clawson

Voice One Alum and attorney Angeli Fitch loves the “business” of voice over as much as she loves the challenge of acting and delivering a high quality performance for her clients. She credits the business aspect of her voice over practice with her extensive experience in running her Bay Area criminal defense firm for a number of years. Angeli is an expert when it comes to making strategic business planning and goal setting, simple and easy to implement. She loves teaching others how to approach their voice over business with joy and excitement instead of with fear and anxiety of the unknown. Dreams can come true, and this former attorney is living her dream by working fulltime as a voice actor!

Jim Edgar works as a full time voice actor from his studio in northern California. A lifelong love of characters and storytelling led him to voiceover in 2007. He regularly provides VO for video games, narration, eLearning, audiobook, and commercial projects. A few of his favorite roles have included a talking scoreboard asking existential questions, a significantly unhinged Birdman of Alcatraz, and a Stormtrooper aggressively guarding holiday presents. Jim found that the many hours spent in recording studios over the years provided the expertise to help other voice actors set up great sounding workspaces. He has assisted hundreds to get their sound sorted out so they can simply focus on being brilliant behind the mic. Jim brings a deep understanding of recording technology and software to our classes - all from the perspective of a working voice actor. JimEdgarVoices.com | JustAskJimVO.studio

Sally Clawson believes the skill of voice over requires good acting, technique, knowledge of the business, and a sense of play. Her teaching weaves all of these skills in a balanced and focused progression that will develop a highly competitive actor. She is engaging, generous and direct because she focuses on the student and what their voice and individuality bring to the art.
