Learn basic skills in creative problem-solving process, develop grit, resourcefulness, resilience and self-confidence. Deconstruction and up-cycling projects will be introduced to students that break down traditional linear models of making to encourage new creative vision and methods of material and tool use. Students will use metal working tools to disassemble, alter, warp or cut up found metal objects. Attention will be paid to identifying types of metal and their compatibility. Altered and reclaimed materials will then be reconstituted into a new object that satisfies a self-assigned design challenge.
