Six weeks of online units and onsite lab demonstration and supervised competency check-offs.
This course is designed specifically for occupational therapy practitioners to the standards outlined in Kentucky Administration Regulation 201KAR28:170. The course will cover therapeutic ultrasound, electrical stimulation, muscle re-education, TENS, Iontophoresis, wound healing/pain theory and edema control.

Principles of physics related to specific properties of light, Water, temperature, sound, and electricity (3hrs.)
Physiological, neurophysiological, and electrophysiological changes that occur as a result of DPAM use (3hrs.)
Theory and Principles of the utilization of DPAM agents including guidelines for treatment or administration of agents within the physiological framework of occupational therapy (2hrs.)
Rationale and application of the use of DPAMs (3hrs.)
The physical concepts of ion movement within the human body (2hrs.)
Critical thinking and decision making regarding the indication and contraindications in the use of DPAMs (3hrs.)
Benefits of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (3hrs.)
Benefits of Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (3hrs.)

Upon successful completion and five supervised clinical deep physical agent modality treatments, the therapist is eligible to apply for DPAM Specialty Certification by (KBLOT).
