Occupational Medicine Journal Club is an educational and networking opportunity to discuss and debate the results of recently published research. During each meeting, we will discuss a recent article from a peer reviewed journal.
The ultimate goal of this series is to promote the optimal health and safety of workers, workplaces, and the environment by:
Articles are selected on the basis of their usefulness to practitioners in terms of clinical practice and the care of worker populations at the programmatic level.
Learning Objectives: At the end of each session, attendees should be able to:
Interpret and explain a current occupational or environmental medicine research report;
Apply an interdisciplinary approach to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies; and
Outline standards of care relevant to occupational and environmental health practice.
CEUs (CME or CEUs): Determination of CME credit is pending. Certificates will be emailed to email address used during registration.
Eligibility for CEUs/CME/Certificate of Attendance:
1. Please enter your first name and last name into Webex on the log in screen.
2. Attend the Presentation and Discussion session (7:30pm - 8:30pm).
3. Complete evaluation post-event. Will be sent on the following Friday by email.
Certificates of attendance are contingent on attendance during the presentation from 7:30pm - 8:30pm and completion of the post-event evaluation. Certificates will be emailed on close of the fall session. Single session or series attendance is allowed.
Journal Club is offered over the course of the academic year on the third Thursday of the month from September - November and January - May.

The Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (SWCOEH) supports research, education and outreach in occupational and environmental health. The SWCOEH is housed within the Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics and Environmental Sciences of the UTHealth School of Public Health.
The SWCOEH was established in 1977 as a NIOSH-funded Education and Research Center (ERC), now one of 18 ERCs in the nation. In 1985, the SWCOEH became a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Occupational Health. As of 2019, the SWCOEH has been officially approved as an affiliate of the NIOSH Total Worker Health program, strengthening a partnership spanning more than 40 years.
The mission of the SWCOEH Continuing Education (CE) Program is to serve as a training resource for professionals and decision-makers in the occupational and environmental health fields by delivering specialized courses in response to current training needs. Our ultimate goal is to improve occupational and environmental health.
