Primary Core Capability: Planning
This 3-day in-person course will provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to instruct the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training that prepares citizens to assist in emergency response activities in their local community. This class is a requirement to be a recognized CERT Instructor in Washington. See https://www.ready.gov/cert for Washington CERT Standards.

A referral letter from a CERT-sponsoring agency, typically a local, regional, or state government agency.
Must have a FEMA Student ID number (https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid).
Visit FEMA's Emergency Management Institute to complete the IS 317 course online at Independent Study
Program trainers or coordinators knowledgeable of the CERT program, committed to serving as instructors in their community and willing to be included in a statewide instructor database.
