EMD0001 State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) Foundations Course - VIRTUAL

Course Description

This training provides State Agency personnel with basic information and skills to understand how the Washington State Emergency Operations Center during major incidents in accordance with the State Emergency Operations Plan.


Course Objectives
  • Identify procedures for activating the SEOC for a phased response,
  • Describe the authorities of state response and recovery as outlined by the CEMP,
  • Define the basic functions of the SEOC sections and staff,
  • Describe the planning process and its use within the SEOC,
  • Provide an overview of WebEOC to communicate, coordinate, and distribute documents,
  • Understand Situational Awareness and Common Operating Picture as it relates to the SEOC,
  • Describe the resource management process,
  • Define the practices of a coordinated public message,
  • Provide an overview of the Policy Group responsibilities.
  • Understand the role of the FEMA Integration (FIT) Team

Prerequisites

Proof of completion for the following three courses must be included with the registration:

 

  • IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS) (any version)
  • IS-230 Fundamentals of Emergency Management
  • IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), an Introduction

 

Visit FEMA's Emergency Management Institute to complete these Independent Study courses.


Student Selection

Course is open only to state and volunteer agency staff who perform duties in the SEOC during major events.
