Are you looking for health and safety workshops to meet the state licensing requirements?
All child care providers are required to complete the health and safety training to protect the health and safety of children in child care, promote continuity of access to all families, to better inform parents and the general public about the child care choices available to them, and improve the overall quality of child care and afterschool programs. There are pre-service or orientation requirements in place for new hires and ongoing minimum health and safety training requirements in place for current child care providers. Child care providers include: child care center administrators, family child care home operators, teachers, substitutes, and anyone providing direct caregiving, direct supervision, and/or counted in staff/child ratio.
This Health and Safety Day will provide 5 hours of training in the following 6 workshop titles to be presented:
1. Sanitation and handwashing
2. Brain Development and Shaken Baby Syndrome
3. Get, Ready, Get Set, Go: Transportation Safety
4. Beyond Bandaids: Administering Medication
5. Food Allergies
6. Supervision of Young Children: indoor and outdoor safety
The following 7 required health and safety topic areas will be covered in these workshops::
1. Prevention and control of infectious diseases, including immunization
2. Administration of medication
3. Prevention of and response to emergencies due to food and allergic
reactions
4. Building and physical premises safety, including identification of and
protection from hazards that can cause bodily injury such as electrical
hazards, bodies of water, and vehicular traffic
5. Precautions in transporting children
6. Prevention of shaken baby syndrome, abusive head trauma, and child
maltreatment
7. Handling and storage of hazardous materials and the appropriate disposal
of bio-contaminants
