Course Details

Target Audience: New BLS students with little or no exposure to CPR techniques. Other students may include non-clinical staff working in the healthcare environment, healthcare students, and those struggling with the fundamental concepts of CPR.

Details: This is an instructor-led course teaching the fundamental components of adult/child/infant CPR with the use of an AED. This initial BLS course focuses on developing and practicing individual skills associated with CPR, but then translates that knowledge into working as a healthcare team to deliver care to the cardiac arrest patient.

Successful Completion: An American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard will be sent if the following requirements are met:

  • Come to class prepared, read student manual prior to attendance
  • Must have a student manual during class
  • Demonstrated CPR skills in accordance with AHA guidelines for BLS
  • Written test score of 84%

How do I get my BLS Provider Student Manual?

  • Nebraska Medicine/UNMC: Use your 4-digit campus zip when you register to receive your book via campus mail
  • Late registration or work from home: It is your responsibility to pick up your student manual prior to class at Professional Development if you register within 72 hours of the class date.

How do I purchase the manual?

  • Non-employees (general public) will receive a new manual with their course registration.
  • Employees and Clarkson students not returning a borrowed manual will be new owners of a BLS Provider Student Manual and will be charged a replacement fee at current AHA prices.
  • Manuals can be purchased online at ShopCPR in print or online formats

Please read textbook prior to class, and bring with you to turn in after class is finished.

Failure to return a borrowed student manual will result in book replacement fees.


Cancellation Policy


Please notify us as soon as possible if you will not be able to attend the course for which you are registered. With a minimum of 2 business days' notice, every attempt will be made to transfer you to another course date and time. Any cancellations received 2 business days or less prior to course start date will not receive a refund. Refunds are not provided if the participant does not show, does not complete, or fails the course.

Classes scheduled for Saturday at Clarkson College have no parking restrictions. Employees and general public may park at your convenience.
