Webinar: Compassion Fatigue
While care is a required element of teaching, sometimes it is incredibly difficult to care so much. Students come to us with a variety of needs – physical, emotional, social, and of course instructional, and when attempting to meet all of these needs, we may find ourselves exhausted. Compassion fatigue, defined as the exhaustion that may lead us to a state of diminished caring for others, is a real issue for teachers of all grades, but there are ways to prevent and combat this in our teaching practice. Facilitator Dr. Alexis Jones is currently a professor at Eastern Illinois University. Her 26 years of work in a variety of education settings have led to her interest in and research on the moral and emotional experiences of teachers.
