Course Description

The Leadership Academy is the premier public sector leadership development program in the region including modules on leadership styles, change management, generations in the workplace, power & persuasion, knowledge transfer, strategic planning, crisis communications, and more.

 

The Leadership Academy is a required component of the The Ohio Certified Public ManagerĀ® (OCPM) Program, a comprehensive and nationally certified development program for state and local government leaders. Cleveland State University's Center for Public & Nonprofit Management delivers the official CPM certification program for the state of Ohio.


Instructor(s)

 

Jennifer R. Madden, Ph.D.

Jennifer Madden has a wealth of experience in capacity building, strategic planning, facilitation, training, and providing technical assistance to the nonprofit sector, the private sector, and government agencies. In addition to an extensive background in real estate development and project finance, Prof. Madden has expertise in economic development strategy, project management, research, and fund development. Prof. Madden holds a Ph.D in management from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, researching leadership competencies, management strategies, team interaction, and other fundamentals for designing and redesigning effective public-private partnerships to determine how collaborations can be designed and leveraged for innovation and rejuvenation, a concept Madden calls “Rejuvenative Innovation.” She is a Nonprofit Management Research Fellow, a Fowler Sustainability Fellow, a Management Design Fellow and a Carthage International Institute for Applied Research Fellow. She holds a master’s degree in nonprofit management and bachelor’s degrees in economics and American studies from Case Western Reserve University. Teaching experience for Prof. Madden includes adjunct instructor at Case Western Reserve University and former full-time college lecturer at Cleveland State University in the Levin College of Urban Affairs.
