Title: Eating Disorders 101 and Evidence Based Treatments

This training will provide psycho education on the basics of eating disorders and the evidenced based treatment for these diagnoses. The Diagnostic Statistical Manual went from 3 types of eating disorders to 5, which will be explored to increase participants’ assessment skills. Given that an estimated 390,698 individuals in Ohio are impacted by an eating disorder it is something we should increase our understanding around to ensure clients are getting effective treatment.
1. Participants will learn how the DSM went from 3 diagnoses for eating disorders to 5, to improve diagnostic skills.
2. Participants will learn about the three stages of Family Based Treatment t for adolescents.
3. Participants will learn about the difference between Family Based Treatment for Bulimia Nervosa vs. Anorexia.
4. Participants will learn about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the treatment of eating disorders and the three different core belief paths.

Samantha Mishne is currently the clinical director of Bellefaire JCB and has been an adjunct professor at Mandel's School of Applied Social Sciences for 14 years.
