Title: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: the Basics and Beyond

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) the Basics and Beyond will help participants understand the difference between adherent and informed DBT. The four components of DBT will be explored along with what DBT can target. The four DBT skills will also be identified; as well as a brief overview of the skills. Current adaptation to increase cultural competency will also be identified.
1. Participants will learn the difference between informed and adherent Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
2. Participants will learn what DBT is the evidenced based treatment for based on current research.
3. Participants will learn about the four skills components of DBT and what they can target.
4. Participants will learn and discuss how DBT is currently being adapted to increase cultural competency.
Samantha Mishne, LISW-S, LICDC-CS
Samantha Mishne is one of seven DBT-Linehan Board Certified therapists in the state of Ohio. She is currently the clinical director of Bellefaire JCB and has been an adjunct professor at Mandel's School of Applied Social Sciences for 14 years.
