Course Description

The Teaching Academy at Cleveland State University is committed to excellence in higher education teaching. The Teaching Academy will provide the theoretical and practical tools you need to design and teach a compelling and challenging higher education course for adult learners.

Teaching Academy Certificate Curriculum

The program consists of four core modules (blended format) and two elective modules. Each core module takes one week and consists of 10-contact hours of instruction that includes a faculty-led, 90-minute group discussion of the material following each module. To receive a CSU certificate in higher education teaching, participants must complete work for all core modules, attend the four discussion sessions, complete two elective modules, and submit a learning portfolio. The program is designed to complete in six weeks.

Learning Portfolio

The student portfolio is a collection of work associated with standards participants learn throughout the six weeks. This collection of work should reflect what you have been taught and what you have learned. Each piece in the portfolio is selected because it is an authentic representation of your learning experience and demonstrates your current knowledge and skills.
