This will be a Zoom session

Recognizing the increased need for Special Education teachers throughout the area, BloomBoard has created a new ISBE-approved LBS1 Licensure Program for Illinois educators. The 12-credit hour program is unlike traditional coursework in that it is self-paced, portfolio-based, and comes with a coach available for 1:1 sessions. This learn-by-doing approach covers all of the required coursework in the areas of:
• Survey of the exceptional child
• General characteristics of children with disabilities
• General methods for teaching children with disabilities
• Psychological assessment of children with disabilities

PEL holders interested in an LBS-1 endorsement and HR leaders


Location

This professional development will be a ZOOM session. The presenter will send a private access code to participants prior to the session after they have registered for the course.

Presenter(s)

Dr. Julia Kirk; Kerry Frank

Dr. Julia Kirk is a Senior Learning Strategist at BloomBoard working with educators and districts throughout Illinois to ensure successful implementations and experiences with the company's competency-based programs.

Before joining BloomBoard, Dr. Kirk's career as an educator included servicing as a principal at both Knox County and Oak Ridge Schools. She also worked as an Executive Director at the Tennessee Department of Education. Additionally, Dr. Kirk is a current Assistant Professor at Lincoln Memorial University. She earned a doctorate in Educational Psychology and Research from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. 


Kerry Frank joined the BloomBoard team as a senior account manager in 2018, serving districts throughout Illinois and the Midwest. As a former educator, she taught 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades and also worked as a mentor in her district. Prior to her career in education, Kerry worked as a morning anchor at television news station in New York and Pennsylvania. She received her BA in Broadcast Journalism from Ithaca College in NY and her M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.
