Periodontal Maintenance on the Implant Patient

Description:
With the increased number of clinicians placing dental implants, there has been an increase in implant related complications. Within these complications, peri-implantitis is the most prevalent. This course will go over basic implant anatomy, diagnosis of peri-implant disease, risk factors, surgical and non-surgical treatment options, and make special emphasis in peri-implant maintenance and long-term stability of peri-implant tissues.

In September 2016, during the 102nd Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology, Dr. Parra received the Leslie M. Salkin Award for being the highest-scoring candidate on the 2016 American Board of Periodontology Oral Examination. He also received an American Academy Foundation Fellowship to the Institute for Teaching and Learning in Health Professions, and the Bud & Linda Tarrson Fellowship Award. Dr. Parra has lectured nationally and internationally on periodontics. His main areas of interests are soft tissue enhancement and dental implants. Carlos Parra, DDS, MS is the director of the Graduate Program in the Department of Periodontology at Texas A&M School of Dentistry. Originally from Barcelona, Spain, Dr. Parra received his dental degree there from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) where he also completed his clinical residency in Periodontology. He then served as a pre-doctoral clinical instructor at IUC from 2011-2012. During this time, he was also involved in research relating oropharyngeal dysphagia and oral hygiene.
After practicing for 3 more years in Barcelona, Dr. Parra moved to the US and received his certificate in Periodontics from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He then became a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M College of Dentistry.

The ACDE, of which the University of Louisville School of Dentistry's Office of Continuing Education (ULSD CE) is a member, brings together individuals who represent university-based continuing dental education programs associated with accredited dental schools in Canada and the United States.
The ACDE and 35 of its member schools are jointly providing this series of live webinars featuring university-based key opinion leaders.
Each lecture will be presented by a different member school's faculty member. By registering through this page, ULSD CE will provide your verification of attendance document. Similar to our other CE offerings, we will maintain a record of your attendance in our database, which you may always access through your personal ULSD CE account.

Cancellation Policy:
We reserve the right to cancel, modify course date, revise course content, and revise program faculty and activities. Registered participants will be notified if a course is revised or cancelled, as warranted. In the event a course is cancelled, tuition will be refunded.
All registrations are subject to the ULSD Cancellation Policy. This is a 'non-limited' attendance course.
ULSD must receive your written request for cancellation not later than two-weeks prior to course start date to process a refund. A 30% processing fee will be deducted from the refund. Course Registrants who are a 'NO-SHOW' forfeit course tuition.
