Description:

The is a two-part lecture: the first part will cover the oral manifestations of systemic diseases and conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, nutritional, hematologic, metabolic, endocrine, gastro-intestinal, connective tissue, granulomatous, infectious, cutaneous, and drug induced manifestations. The second part of the lecture will cover the possible hypotheses of correlation between periodontal disease and systemic diseases and conditions and literature yet available.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

1. Understand the oral manifestations of systemic conditions.
2. The correlation of periodontal disease and systemic conditions.

Audience: All dental professionals

 Husham Edani BDS, DMD, MDS, PhD is a full-time faculty member in the Dept. of Periodontics and Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Edani received his BDS from the College of Dentistry in Baghdad, Iraq. He moved to France and completed the oral surgery program and received his PhD at University of Paris VII, and was granted a Maxilla-facial Prosthesis fellowship from University of Paris V. Dr. Edani then moved to the US and completed his DMD, MDS, and Periodontics residency at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.
