This training meets on Wednesday, January 5th, February 16th, March 2nd and April 13th from 2:00-4:00.

The Full Participation of Each Child is a FOCUS training requirement for all NM PreK, Title I, Special Education, and long term substitute teachers and EA's within their first 6 months of hire. Administrators are also required to take this course and may do so through the PED FOCUS Online Leadership Academy.

No book is required for this course.


Emily Renfro (BFA, M. Ed)  is an Early Childhood Instructional Coach with the Central Regional Education Cooperative (CREC). She has been in Early Childhood Education for over twenty years, working as a teacher, trainer and coach, in public, private and charter schools. Additionally she has worked with adults in a variety of settings (Inquiry Science Education Consortium for the LANL Foundation, Fine Arts for the MN Bureau of Prisons). She currently supports 17 teachers in 9 districts across the North Central Mountains in New Mexico.

Denise Calcanis is and Early Childhood Instructional Coach with the CREC serving Lovington, Ruidoso, and Roswell teachers. Denise earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a minor in Reading. She also holds a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading and Literacy from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. She has 7 years experience as a Special Education teacher in both elementary and secondary school and 6 years of experience teaching in a NM PreK classroom.
