Early Literacy Strategies in Action: Alphabet Knowledge
This training will focus on alphabet knowledge. Print concepts important for young children will be discussed. Characteristics of letters that may facilitate learning and the development of alphabet learning will be described. Strategies and activities that facilitate alphabet knowledge will be shared.
Emily Renfro (BFA, M. Ed) is an Early Childhood Instructional Coach with the Central Regional Education Cooperative (CREC). She has been in Early Childhood Education for over twenty years, working as a teacher, trainer and coach, in public, private and charter schools. Additionally she has worked with adults in a variety of settings (Inquiry Science Education Consortium for the LANL Foundation, Fine Arts for the MN Bureau of Prisons). She currently supports 17 teachers in 9 districts across the North Central Mountains in New Mexico.
Sarah Lentz is an Early Childhood Instructional Coach with the Central Region Education Cooperative (CREC). She earned her Bachelors in Early Childhood Education with a concentration on Teacher Education, and her Masters in Education with a specialization in Distance Teaching and Learning, from National University in La Jolla, California. Sarah has over 10 years of experience in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, and STEAM education. She is currently an ECIC for 21 teachers in the LasCruces Public School District.
