Early Literacy Strategies in Action: Phonological Awareness
This training will focus on the critical component skills of phonological awareness. The linguistic hierarchy of phonological awareness skill development will be described and a general continuum of phonological skill development in the areas of rhyming, alliteration, blending and segmenting will be discussed. Strategies and activities that facilitate the development of phonological awareness skills will be shared.

Facilitator
Katrina Gallegos, M.A. has been an Early Childhood Instructional Coach for the past 2 years. She has a New Mexico Level 3 Teaching License and has worked for over 10 years in the early childhood profession with extensive experience in Early Childhood Special Education.
Kayla Pipkin is an Early Childhood Instructional Coach (ECIC) for Carlsbad Public Schools, Belen Public Schools, and Loving Public Schools.
