Training Team

Jolena Brewer, RHIT

Jolena is a Hospital Outpatient Coding Auditor and Educator for Centura Heath. She is responsible for performing internal audits as well as analyzing and summarizing external audit results. She also plans and performs coding education. Jolena is a member of CHIMA and currently volunteers with the Data Quality Committee. She maintains her RHIT credential that she obtained in March of 2012. She loves living in Colorado and exploring the great outdoors!

Bryna Mirabella, RHIT

Bryna started her career in 1991 in HIM, working her way up the ladder. Since starting at Centura Health in 2007, when she was hired as an ED coder, she has learned new patient types, working her way up to Hospital Outpatient Coding Auditor and Educator for the Hospital Outpatient Surgery/Observation/IR team. She has worked as a billing manager on the physician side for 10 years before joining Centura, where her passion for CPT coding started. She enjoys teaching others to help them advance their coding. In her spare time, she loves to craft and spend time with her family—especially her two granddaughters!

Sherri Ward, RHIA, CCS

Sherri has over 25 years' experience in health care and health information management. She started coding for a Level I Trauma Center as an inpatient coder and moved on to code each patient type. She has worked for hospital systems in multiple states as well as several contract coding companies. She has had many opportunities to code, audit, supervise, and manage throughout the country and has worked at facilities from community hospitals to major academic medical centers. Sherri has found that regardless of her position, she seems to get drawn into coder education. Some of her favorite experiences have been preparing coders for new software systems as well as the training and implementation of clinic coding and charge auditing for over 50 multispecialty clinics, and then of course, the implementation of ICD-10. She currently works for Children's Hospital Colorado where she holds the title of Coding Compliance and Education Specialist. She enjoys working with all coders in enhancing their knowledge base in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT!

Whitney Horton, CPC, CCC

Whitney is a Certified Coder and Certified Cardiology Coder through the AAPC. She is currently a Coding Quality Supervisor with UCHealth, and serves as a co-chair on the Data Quality Committee with CHIMA. Whitney has over 10 years of coding and auditing experience in a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical specialties. She is passionate about empowering coders, providers, and other health care professionals to understand the language of the coding and billing world.
