20+ years of experience in Health Information Management specific to medical record documentation, MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, Outpatient APCs, DRG case mix and analysis (CMI), Physician CPT, Evaluation and Management (E/M) and revenue cycle compliance. Worked with academic medical centers, community hospitals, long term acute (LTAC) hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, and VA medical centers, physician practices and ambulatory surgery centers (ACS). Provided services including clinical documentation improvement and compliance. Experience with ICD-10 CM/PCS development and implementation support. ICD-10 HIM departmental education and training for providers, payers and physicians. ICD-10 claims analytics and conversion consulting. Authored and contributed to several articles and practice briefs across the healthcare industry.


Kelly McLendon, RHIA, CHPS


Kelly McLendon has been a HIM practitioner for over 38 years and was awarded the AHIMA 2015 'Innovator' Triumph award. Kelly is a founder of CompliancePro Solutions where he helped design and create a product called PrivacyPro, which manages HIPAA compliance. He has authored countless articles about HIM, received numerous other awards and has published a book about legal health records. He also has created literally hundreds of items of content related to HIPAA from full sets of policy templates, to risk analysis and educational materials.

With over thirty years in Health Information Management (HIM), Colleen's experience will bring a lively discussion to many of the HIM topics, past, present and moving forward into the future. Colleen has a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration, and proudly holds the credentials of RHIT.



Sarah West, JD, MA, CFE


Sarah West is an investigator with US Department of Health and Human Services in the Office for Civil Rights in the Southeast Region. She responds to HIPAA complainants and conducts HIPAA breach investigations and compliance reviews. She is also responsible for responding to complaints submitted by individuals who feel they have been discriminated against by an individual or entity that receives federal financial assistance from HHS on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex and in limited circumstances religion. She attended law school at Georgia State University's College of Law, obtained a masters of arts in bioethics from Case Western Reserve University, and completed a bachelor's in arts at Furman University, in Greenville, South Carolina. She is a certified fraud examiner, certified in applied data analytics, and she currently serves as a court appointed special advocate for children in the foster care system in DeKalb County Georgia. She is also currently enrolled in a medical billing and coding training program.



Amy Morgan, MBA, RHIA, CDIP, CCS


Amy is a Health Information Management (HIM) professional with more than 24 years of experience with a strong emphasis on inpatient auditing and quality assurance. She helps in providing education to coding professionals, CDI staff and physicians. Amy is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), a Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP), and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) through AHIMA, and she holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) as well.
