Short Term Rental Certificate 2-day Live

Renting a room or an entire home to guests for short stays can be profitable or it can create loss and liability. Understanding and applying industry 'best practices' can benefit you and your guests.

This 2-day course is held at the Utah Tech Campus. This is the approved education course for STR permit applicants in several cities and it may qualify for real estate CE.

This course reviews time-honored and innovative STR management practices, including an overview of the industry regulations and accounting, marketing and reservations, guest and neighbor relations, maintenance and housekeeping, design and decor choices, security and guest safety, tech devices and innovations, opportunities, challenges, and more!

The instructor has over thirty years of experience in owning and managing successful vacation homes/short-term rentals. Owners, investors, property managers, realtors, hoteliers, municipal officials, and other people wanting to learn more about this emerging industry have given the course top reviews. Instructor: Julie Davies

Julie Davies opened her first bed & breakfast inn in 1986 (while managing hotels and resorts) and her newest STR in 2021. She was asked by municipal officials to write a course about STR industry laws and best practices in 2016, and she co-authored the textbook Vacation Rental Management 411. With thousands of course graduates giving the STR Certification Course excellent reviews, this training has been mandated for STR license/permit applicants in several cities. Davies lectures internationally on STR management and Lodging Industry trends while consulting with and reviewing travel businesses. She has received the Permanent Faculty Member designation with the American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Institute and has taught over 30 university courses. Julie's joy is her daughters and grandchildren---she loves to study and travel with them, too.

Some of the course lessons are also taught by the textbook co-author, Breanne Ellis, who holds several degrees, has published academic papers and received international awards for her work with social media and marketing research, has managed international programs, and is a seasoned STR owner as well.
