Penn GSE Virtual Institutes bring Penn's faculty and resources to teachers, educators and leaders across the globe. In these innovative professional learning modules, participants engage in real-time, online group sessions as well as reflect and learn at their own pace in asynchronous sessions. Institutes typically span three consecutive half days, allowing participants to accelerate their learning while continuing to fulfill their professional obligations.

About the Program

The Teaching Math Responsively Institute equips teachers with practical strategies and techniques to engage their students in high-cognitive demand activities and rich disciplinary practices.

This Institute addresses the powerful shifts seen in math classrooms across the country to support student discourse and help students engage with the Standards for Mathematical Practice.

Developed for K-8 math teachers and instructional coaches, this program will draw on usable research and best practices to help prepare teachers to facilitate engaging math classroom routines that are responsive to student thinking and support mathematical habits of mind. Teacher will leave this Institute with a plan for successfully implementing math routines in their classrooms.


Follow-up virtual sessions will be help on October 3 and November 7th to discuss and review the implementation process.
