Penn GSE Virtual Institutes bring Penn's faculty and resources to teachers, educators and leaders across the globe. In these innovative professional learning modules, participants engage in real-time, online group sessions as well as reflect and learn at their own pace in asynchronous sessions. Institutes typically span three consecutive half days, allowing participants to accelerate their learning while continuing to fulfill their professional obligations.
Participants who successfully complete this Virtual Institute will receive a Penn GSE Certificate of Participation.
Collaboration & Conflict is an experiential and interdisciplinary exploration of how people work together to solve complex problems.
This Institute explores the deeply intrapersonal and interpersonal demands of exercising leadership within teams and complex organizations. The course seeks to help learners understand why effective leadership is a cognitively demanding task requiring both high emotional intelligence and expert technical skill, and why most of us must develop as individuals in order to develop as leaders.
This Institute, created for an interdisciplinary audience, is modeled after the popular graduate-level course at Penn GSE, and draws on relevant research, theoretical frameworks, and best practices from psychology, sociology, business, law, medicine, negotiation, education, and collaborative problem-solving.
