This class will explore immigrant experiences in America. We’ll read memoirs, novels, and short stories of significant literary merit that explore the motivations, difficulties, and rewards of the American immigrant.
Authors will include Willa Cather, Mohsin Hamid, Jhumpa Lahiri, Dinaw Mengestu, and Phuc Tran. We'll discuss the authors' varied backgrounds, styles, and themes as well as the moral questions they raise. Finally, we will view online segments of readings by and/or interviews with the authors.
